Joe's Crab Shack Commercial

What to say? What to say? What to say? Uuummm...

I've been seeing this commercial run here in Hawaii and I'm wondering if during the entire process of pitching, story boarding, producing, filming, even editing did anyone not see a problem in having children and their parents playfully say "Oh Shit" over and over and over again.

I mean C'mon! Are you serious!?! Who actually produced this commercial?! It's one thing to have people curse around their kids or for kids to be cursing around their parents but to actually make a commercial out of it that's supposed to be promoting a food chain is RIDICULOUS!!!

Why would that advertiser that came up with this crap think it was smart advertising to have an entire family say "Oh Shit" during the ENTIRE commercial and think it would make the restaurant look good and appetizing enough for me to want to go there?

I understand the "shock and awe" value of doing commercials and leaving the audience with a topic to discuss but I don't know if they actually accomplished the part of getting people in the door of the restaurant in this commercial.

For one, I don't think that I'm gonna go rush to go to Joe's Crab Shack now because I want my family to experience such deliciousness that they want to curse in front of me.

What is the world coming to when they have little kids doing such things for a publicity stunt? I didn't even get to see the various food choices I could have if I were to visit this restaurant.

This commercial is just plain sad and sooo very wrong. My personal opinion of Joe's Crab Shack is very disappointing after seeing this commercial. I would've much rather them focus on the products they're selling us than have a bunch of little kids curse to me with curse words that aren't even expressing their joy for what they're eating.

It's just a horrific commercial that I wish they'd stop airing because I have to explain to my kids that what they're saying is bad despite the fact that they're smiling and the parents aren't doing much to stop the kids from their behavior.

Plus it has NOTHING to do with seafood. So very sad...

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog! That commercial sounds really crazy! I can't even imagine! However, living in Hawaii sounds very nice. I lived there when I was a baby (my dad was a marine and stationed there), but I have never been back.
