And the BIG news is....I will be on "Oprah's Favorite Things 2012!!!!"

I had every intention of updating you all with what the "BIG" news was earlier but I had to wait until I got down from my high... :)

Well... I was chosen to be among the 30 lucky military spouses who will be receiving "Oprah's Favorite Things" for 2012. Ahhhhhh!!!! :) (Please click on the link to watch the commercial for the show)

I must say that it's SLOWLY starting to sink in. The entire experience from start to finish was truly remarkable and life changing. It's a time in my life I will never forget. First of all there are over 1.6 million military spouses. The fact that little ole me was asked to be apart of it is shocking! lol.

I have to give credit to Babette Maxwell and the team of "Military Spouse Magazine" for this tremendous opportunity. If it wasn't for her hard work and dedication with making sure she gave military spouses a voice by creating "Military Spouse Magazine," then rewarding our efforts with the "Military Spouse of the Year" awards, this would not be happening to me. I am EXTREMELY grateful for the opportunity and can't seem to find the words to thank everyone involved in this momentous occasion enough.

First of all, we were all told that we were selected to see a sneak peek of Oprah's new reality show "Married to the Army - Alaska." We were also told that Oprah wouldn't be there. So imagine our surprise when we get there, sit down, ready to preview the show and she pops out from the side. Ahhhhh!! Talk about shocking! I have no idea what my face looked like but I'm excited to see it when the show airs on Nov  28 @ 8 PM on OWN.

Of course I can't say what we were all given, you all will have to watch the show to find out. I wanted to make sure I let you all know what was happening and share a few pics with you.

<---- This is me, heading out to the biggest surprise of my life! :)

Oprah was absolutely gracious and so down to earth. It was such a great honor to be in her presence. Even better was the fact that they seated me next to her. I still can't believe that happened, lol. I'm a lucky and definitely blessed gal.

I'm also excited because Oprah will be debuting a reality tv show starring military spouses called, "Married to the Army - Alaska." I have to say that OWN is the perfect network to be telling our stories as military spouses. It's so comforting because we all know that whatever Oprah touches turns to gold, plus she will most definitely ensure that we are depicted in the best light possible. I can't wait to see the show. Even though it tells the story of Army wives, we all share a common bond. No matter the branch of service, our journeys, for the most part, remain the same. I can't wait to laugh, cry and feel with these women.

Make sure you all tune in to the 2 hour special of "Oprah's Favorite Things 2012" airing November 18th @ 8 pm EST on OWN. Also stay tuned for "Married to the Army - Alaska" immediately following the "Favorite Things" special. It's gonna be an emotional night so make sure you have your boxes of kleenex handy, I know I will. :)

                                                         Gayle & I, just hanging out. :)

Me sitting in Oprah's chair, lol. :)

Until next time... Mahalo ;)

A New Journey...

Today I embark on a momentous, life changing and super fun journey. As a military spouse, our hard work and dedication can sometimes get overlooked. We're the unseen heroes, the ones that stand in the background and we're not heard from. In recent years, things have changed and I'm so happy for that.

One of those changes includes getting to voice our opinions, concerns and getting to give the civilian world a sneak peek into our world.

Soooo... without giving away too much too soon, that's all I'll be saying about my journey today. :)

I"ll be updating my blog more often from now on for sure, so... stay tuned...

Work Out Wednesday

I'm still on my second challenge and still feeling great. I FINALLY see abs, lol. I have a 2 pack and I'm starting to see more definition in my arms and legs which is great, no more jiggles, lol.

I haven't been doing my usual hard core exercising but I never go a day without my shakes. I've been experimenting more and more with different flavors and even making pancakes with the shake mix. The pancakes turned out yummy by the way. I'll share the recipe and pics in a separate post.

Overall, I'm loving the fact that I've found something I've been able to stick with and that fits into my lifestyle so perfectly.

Anyway... Until next week. Keep fit and sexy people.

Inspirational Mondays

It's been FAR too long since I've done an inspirational post. I wanted to make sure I spread God's magnificent word by sharing a scripture I've been fasting, praying and meditating on recently.

1 Chronicles 4:10:
"Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain." And God granted his request."

It seems that the big man upstairs has been listening because the months of September and October are turning out to be the most life changing months of this year for my family and I. In the coming days and weeks, I'll explain why but I've been floating on cloud nine lately because God has been soooo good to me and has kept his promises to me.

I hope that by sharing this scripture, someone out there will be touched and open to meditating on it as well. Believe in it because his word is TRUE!

Have a blessed and prosperous week everyone!

Work Out Wednesday!

It's work out Wednesday and I REALLY didn't want to work out today. I didn't have a choice though. I had to force myself to stay consistent. I popped in an Insanity DVD and got to work. 40 minutes later, I felt like I accomplished a huge task. lol

That should be the way we tackle live's problems. You don't want to deal with it or go through it but in the end, once you get through the rough part, the reward is sooooo much sweeter and you will feel way better afterwards. :)

Wishing everyone a great hump day.

Stay blessed and prosperous.

What's happening now...

It's been a while since I've sent out an update. *Gasp* how dare me! ;)

Well, I'm now finally home and settled back in Cali after a crazy busy summer with the kiddies. We headed to FL for the first half of the summer.

They got to see and hang out with family we hadn't seen in years...

while I got to work on my ViSalus business.

Then it was back to Cali with literally a 2 day stop before jetting off to Hawaii to see our old friends and get back that much missed Aloha spirit.

I also got some business done there as well. All in all my summer was fantastic and I know the kids feel the same way.

Now it's back to school and being planted in one spot for now. We're finally accepting Cali as our new home and we're excited for what God has in store for us here.

Wishing everyone a blessed and prosperous week!

A New Day...

Soooo, I have a confession to make. I slacked off... :( The beginning of July was such a crazy time for me that I started eating crappy again. Mainly because I was back in Florida with family and friends and decided to take in as much Jamaican food as I possibly could since we don't have all the Jamaican food options here in CA.

So, although I was drinking my shakes each day, I didn't hold up my end of the bargain to follow through with my healthy snack and meal options and I didn't work out as much as I should have.

So my last few weeks of my 1st ever 90 day challenge was a bust. However, I'm thankful that I have the option to start over. I don't have much of a choice because my body definitely felt the change in the way I was eating. I also saw it on my face as I started to break out a lot. I felt sooooo tired all the time after eating those crappy foods. I also felt very heavy and bloated, not a good look.

So my brand new challenge starts today and I feel very optimistic that I'll follow through annnnddd I really want more than just a 2 pack. I'm shooting for the entire 6 pack. What I'm excited for this time around is that  ViSalus revamped the whole challenge and is now launching 'The Challenge 3.0!" Sooo excited for this. The customer and promoter experience is now better than ever. Check out what I mean at

As always, I wish you nothing but good health and prosperity.

Stay tuned...

It's been a while since I've updated my blog and the pic above is the main reason why. I've been so focused on getting into that 600 to 700 bracket that I haven't been able to share all the wonderful news with you lovely folks about this challenge.

The more and more I learn about the challenge, the more convinced I am that I'm truly living out my purpose in life. I've always prayed to God that he would use me to reach the masses and help people. I never knew it would be in this way but I accept it.

I love the fact that I get to be a part of a history making company. We get to save lives ya'll. We get to give people hope and allow them to feel great about themselves again. Those of us who struggle with that last bit of weight and those of us who has a lot to lose knows that once those pounds are off, we feel like a new person.

Being on my grind with this company is so fulfilling. We now have 5000 people joining the challenge a DAY! Doctors are now prescribing our shakes to their patients and Blue Cross and Blue Shield now covers our products. That is INSANE!! :)

Anyway, back to work for me.

Wishing everyone a blessed and prosperous week.

It's - Work Out Wednesday (Technically Thursday - lol)

I almost forgot to post my work out updates. How dare me! lol

This week was a lot rough because my entire household (except hubby and our oldest son) has the cold. Bummer! Nevertheless, I've been working out and still doing my shakes. Gotta fight through the sickness and get to my goal. :)

I decided to implement using those exercise bands and boy was a SORE from doing that. It was just 25 minutes but I was surely working some muscles that I'd never worked before. In the end I felt great that I actually worked out despite feeling crappy.

I'm not 100% out of the woods but I honestly believe that my Body By Vi Vitamin packs and the shakes helped me get better faster and have the energy to finish the exercise. Usually with the symptoms I'm having, I'd be curled up in bed and asking for help from the kiddies or hubby. I've actually been able to get my regular tasks done. Now I just need to tackle this sore throat and I'll be back to my old self.

Well, it's time for me to do some cardio abs so I'll go get to it.

Wishing you all a healthy and fit rest of your week!!

Inspirational Mondays - Cares

I'm finally back to posting my "Inspirational Mondays" posts. Yippee! ;)

I came across this quote/scripture recently during my daily devotionals and HAD to share it:

"Thank you , God, for knowing us so well. When our little problems seem too tiny to bring to You, remind us that You care about every aspect of our lives. When the little things grow and become really big problems, remind us that we can cast all our cares on You- the little things and the big ones. Amen."

"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. - Matthew 10:29"

Wishing you all the very best for this week.

Have a blessed and prosperous week everyone!

It's - Work Out Wednesday!!

I almost forgot to post my updates of how I'm doing with this 90 day challenge. I'm happy to say that I can now wear shirts that I haven't worn since after giving birth to my second son. Funny thing is, I was able to drop baby weight and more after giving birth to my 1st and 2nd born just from breast feeding alone but my 3rd son's weight just loves my tummy and thighs and this love is a one way street. So I'm trying to evict it as soon as possible but it's hanging on for dear life. Of course age is a huge factor and genes but who says I can't fight back?

It's ok though, I've called in reinforcements with "Body By Vi" and it's working so far. I look forward to the day that I can see some clearly defined abs which means I have to actually work out huh? Blaahhh... lol

I decided to get back into my insanity work outs. Seems like I was doing insanity for ages and while it got me fit and toned a bit, I wasn't dropping weight the way I am now. So I'll be mixing my insanity work outs with "Body By Vi" to get my results then just maintain it afterwards.

Wish me luck! I'm actually starting to get excited about working out. Shocking, I know but I'm loving it. :)

Happy Hump day everyone!

5 tips to help get you healthy and save your money!

I've been promoting the "Body by Vi" challenge for over a month now. When I first started, I thought for sure I'd be flooded with friends and family who'd be purchasing the different kits we have available, even if it was just the $49 kit. Seems like most of my family and friends are skeptical. Nevertheless, I'm starting to get more and more people on board and they are LOVING it. Not one of my many customers have had a bad experience with these products.

I was baffled at first about the hesitation but then I was talking it over with my hubby and came to realization that it's not that people don't want to lose weight, tone up or get healthy. I've found that most people aren't ok with change. Most people I know want the result of losing weight, staying fit and feeling energized but they don't want to do a complete change to accomplish it. Nothing wrong with that at all, to each his own. However, as with everything else in life, you can't see different results if we keep doing the same things. People are also concerned with the cost. Again, totally understandable, but after this post, you'll realize that not only will you be saving your life by starting this health program, you'll be spending less money grocery shopping AND on other weight loss programs because each "Body by Vi" shake is ONLY $1.87!!

Here are 5 top reasons and excuses I've heard as to why people are hesitant to join the challenge:

1.  I'm not a shake drinker!

This is a valid point. Some people are weird with textures of foods. However, the Body by Vi shakes are formulated for you to be able to mix into anything you're used to drinking. So you don't have to drink it as a shake. You can mix it in your juice, milk or just plain water. You can make it however you like because it comes in a yummy sweet cream flavored powder form that's easy to make and mix and tastes really good.

2.  Times are hard, I can't afford it!

This by far seems to be a big concern but in reality, you can't afford not to get a kit. ANNNDDD, Visalus is actually cheaper than Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers and all those other weight loss programs out there.

Each shake is only $1.87 and contains all the nutrients required by your doctor to stay fit and healthy. If you had to buy all the foods included in each shake, you'd go broke. I've been drinking 2 shakes a day and hubby mostly drinks at least 1 shake a day with the kids drinking one if they're in the mood for one. On average, we spend about $800 to $1000 on groceries each month for a family of 5. This doesn't include our usual Friday night "eat out" trips or our typical Sunday evening Ice cream trips. I broke down our grocery bill for these past month and we've saved $400 so far. We've completely cut out our "eat out" nights because we're focusing on making sure "WE" are the ones mixing all the ingredients going into our food. Another reason for the drop in grocery price is because I stopped eating all the food in the house, lol. You'd think that in a house filled with mostly males, most of the eating would come from them but nope, it was all me. Luckily our boys are health junkies and they love fruits and veggies so stocking up on healthy stuff is great. I've also given them shakes as well and they really love it. Overall, we've saved a lot of money and I'm proud to say I didn't have a mid week trip to the grocery store at all this week. Well, I did but that was just for paper towel and garbage bags which I won't count, lol. So, we're spending less, eating less but we feel completely full, energized and healthy.

3.  I don't have the time to work out or make shakes!

Don't you think your health and wellness is worth the extra time needed to work out or make a shake? Well, if you're still too busy to fit in a work out then this program is the PERFECT program for you. The "Body By Vi" program is designed for you to drop weight and keep it off with no cardio involved. I know some of you are probably saying, WHAT?!?! Of course we still recommend getting some cardio in for heart health and because it's the smart thing to do but if you're ever strapped for time, know that the shake will still do the job of getting you fit and healthy without working out. As for making the shakes, it takes literally 5 minutes. This time includes grabbing the shake mix, putting in ice, water or milk and fruits, whatever you like in your shake. It's that simple and that quick.

4.  I'm too greedy, I have to eat solid foods!

This was me before joining the challenge, lol. Ummmm, no one is saying you have to completely cut out solid foods. I would surely not survive on this program if I had to cut out solid foods, lol. You can eat while drinking the shakes, we just recommend small, healthy meals to keep in line with making sure you stay conscious of your health at all times. I decided to drink shakes for breakfast and lunch, have small, healthy snacks in between and eat a regular but healthy dinner.

5.  Will the weight stay off?

This is a big but extremely valid question. Yes the weight will stay off. We've seen it time and time again that people who've been on the kits for years are actually keeping the weight off. Why? Because the program works and because your mindset changes once your body changes. No one wants to put in the time and effort to lose weight only to gain it back. That wouldn't be smart.

So these are my tips why everyone should join me on this 90 day fitness challenge. I've lost 6 pounds so far and I feel FANTASTIC! I'm not just saying this because I'm promoting the challenge, I'm saying this because I truly BELIEVE in the products. We have a kit for everyone and not just shakes, we have really YUMMY cookies for people like me who have a sweet tooth. The cookies are high in fiber and designed to help curb your appetite and cravings for sweet stuff. I seriously had to check the calories while eating one recently because I was afraid I shouldn't be eating the entire thing, it's that good, lol.

I hope I've helped explained the challenge and it's benefits in detail to ya! If not, post a comment and let me know if you have any other questions and I'd be more than happy to answer them for you.

In the meantime, check out my website for more details on all the great products we have to offer and to order your kit today. If you want to become a distributor as well, ask me how. :)

Also check out this video from a personal trainer who knows her stuff and made tons of money promoting the challenge:

Body By Visalus - 90 day challenge

I decided to take on a new adventure. As if I needed to add more to my already full plate, lol. I'm actually feeling really good about this new adventure because it has to do with fitness and living your best life.

I'm now a promoter for Visalus Sciences, a company that's leading in making people lose weight, keep it off and live their best and healthiest life possible. What I absolutely LOVED about this company was the fact that I can stay healthy, fit and lose weight without having to do hard core cardio.

I NEVER thought I'd be into meal replacement shakes but I am totally HOOKED on these shakes. Mainly because the shake mix tastes like ice cream. It's sweet cream flavored and tastes so yummy, especially when you mix it with fruits and juices or different types of milk. So far I'm loving my pina colada mixture which consists of the shake mix, a can of pineapples, dairy free coconut milk and ice. Oh so yummy!!!!

I actually look forward to getting up and drinking my shakes knowing that my meal is one less meal to worry about. I also love the fact that my grocery bill has now dropped drastically because I'm not shoving everything I can find in my mouth.

Overall, I'm on my 3rd week and I love the program and of course the business. The potentials are endless. I love being able to work from home and get to be around for my boys AND make money. Want more info on it? Go to

Win win for me!

I'll update you all on my journey soon...

Next stop... California

It's been a while since I've blogged. I figured I'd update whatever readers I have left on the fact that we are now in CA, lol. We just PCSd from Hawaii late last month. Life here is definitely different from life in Hawaii. It's time to get back to the faster pace and hustle and bustle of Southern CA.

It's really a bittersweet move though. We truly love, adore and miss Hawaii and honestly, we would go back there in a heartbeat. However, being in Cali means I'm closer to hanging out with my lil sis/bestie Latoya which has been great. It also means we're that much closer to other family and friends.

Overall, Cali has been great to us so far. God's timing is definitely at work here. So many things fell into place that we just can't help but to give praises.

We're looking forward to the next adventures.

P.S. I still get to use Hawaiian lingo because I have a Hawaiian baby and dog, lol. ;)

VOTE for me to be the next Military Spouse of the Year

Aloha Family & Friends~

Hope all's well with everyone. I just wanted to let you all know that I've been chosen as one of 30 finalists to be the "2012 Military Spouse of the Year." This is a great honor for me since there are 1.1 million military spouses and each of us could have easily been chosen for this prestigious award.

Along with the title of "Military Spouse of the Year," we're expected to have a platform. My platform is to change all the public schools on military bases across the world to Department of Defense schools and implement one standard curriculum which will be easy for military children to transition to new schools when it comes time for us to move. For non military families this may not be that big of a deal but for military families it's means a lot because we're having to move every 3 years, sometimes in the middle of the school year. My goal is to see that all the schools have the same top level education so that my boys won't fall behind when going from one base to another. Right now, each base that's not funded by the Department of Defense has to follow state laws which means the children follow whatever guidelines provided which often times does not have anything to do with being a military child. There are not a lot of provisions out there to help support them and ensure they're not left behind when getting to the next base.  A lot of wives end up home schooling their children or sending them to private school which is quite costly.

I say all that to say that I NEED your support. I've got some pretty stiff competition so EVERY vote counts.

Please click this link to vote: All you need to do is input your name, email and zip code for a confirmation link and that's it. You won't be added to any lists or receive spam mail. :)

You can vote every hour, every day!! (I'll get an end date for voting later on in the week)

Please share this with your friends and family, libraries, schools, grocery store clerk, post man, Fedex delivery guy, practically everyone and anyone. ;) Also, PLEASE, PLEASE post the voting link on your Facebook and Twitter accounts.

I'd like to say thank you in advance for the support. I would really love to win this honor so let's make it happen people!

Have a blessed and prosperous week.
