A few days ago I was hit with the realization that people tend to care way too much about what other people think of them rather than what God thinks about them. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but it can become a bad thing if our main focus is to please others. There's nothing wrong with wanting to put forth our best selves or try to make improvements in life but you can enter dangerous territory if every single move that you make relies on what someone else may think or even do.
It's just not natural and it's definitely not fair. Not fair to you to put SO much pressure on yourself and most importantly it's not fair to God. He wants you to turn to him, please him, get dressed up for him, make a "special" meal for him, care about what "HE" thinks. Why? Because he is the one who truly matters.
In the end people may come in and out of your lives but the one constant will ALWAYS be God. So be sure to treat him as such because after all, he'll be there for you whether you cook a crappy meal or not or whether you fit into those skinny jeans or not.
This week's inspirational quote comes courtesy of moi... ;)
"It amazes me that people still strive for validation from others rather than validation for our heavenly father. Seek him FIRST and the people who are meant to be in your life will come. Realize that no matter what you do, you'll never be able to please everyone."
Happy Monday everyone!
Have a blessed and prosperous week. :)
