Hope all's well with everyone. I just wanted to let you all know that I've been chosen as one of 30 finalists to be the "2012 Military Spouse of the Year." This is a great honor for me since there are 1.1 million military spouses and each of us could have easily been chosen for this prestigious award.

Along with the title of "Military Spouse of the Year," we're expected to have a platform. My platform is to change all the public schools on military bases across the world to Department of Defense schools and implement one standard curriculum which will be easy for military children to transition to new schools when it comes time for us to move. For non military families this may not be that big of a deal but for military families it's means a lot because we're having to move every 3 years, sometimes in the middle of the school year. My goal is to see that all the schools have the same top level education so that my boys won't fall behind when going from one base to another. Right now, each base that's not funded by the Department of Defense has to follow state laws which means the children follow whatever guidelines provided which often times does not have anything to do with being a military child. There are not a lot of provisions out there to help support them and ensure they're not left behind when getting to the next base. A lot of wives end up home schooling their children or sending them to private school which is quite costly.

He's HOME!!!

I can FINALLY breathe a sigh of relief because hubby is HOME!!! We're so glad to have him back and even better that he made it back 2 days before Thanksgiving so this year's Thanksgiving was extra special.

2011 so far...

Wow this year has been filled with lots and lots of challenges so far but as I reflect on everything I realize that God never left me and he's blessed my family and I tremendously. Every time we met a challenge, I had to give God praises because that meant that my family and I were ready for our "promotion" and ready to get to the next level. It hasn't been easy but we hung in there.

Hubby's deployment is in the end stages and I can't wait!!! This time around it went by fast and I love it. I'm itching because we're set to receive orders and it can come any day now. I just pray that where ever we end up, it will be great for the family. I'm sure it will be because we're covered by God. :)

Potty training for munchkin # 3

I'm a happy mommy because munchkin # 3 is finally potty trained. Woo hoo!! I love the fact that as moms we get to brag and celebrate what may seem silly but this is a HUGE deal!

I was a little worried this time around because with my other boys, they were potty trained at 16 months and 18 months. The fact that it took 21 months for munchkin # 3 was a little nerve racking. I honestly couldn't see going 2 to 3 years cleaning up poop and pee, lol.

How did I get him trained? I started training him with the # 2 first, I basically watched him like a hawk during the times I knew he'd poop. Before he got the chance to push (sometimes in mid push), I'd pick him up or walk him to the potty, nice and calm and let him do his thing or finish on the toilet. At first, he was scared and would hold it but I sat with him and sang or played around with him and made him feel comfy enough to do his thing. After he did the deed, I'd make a BIG deal out of it. I'd cheer him on, kiss, hug, high five and tickle him and he thought it was the best thing ever. So eventually he loved going on the toilet. :)

For the number 1, that was tricky this time around. My usual trick is to take them to the store and let them pick out cute undies and told them that they couldn't pee in them because the undies were too cool to get wet. Of course they'd have mishaps which was fine but instead of cleaning them up right away, I'd let them walk around in the wet undies and be uncomfortable. After about an hour or so, I'd change them but I'd tell them not to wet them again. This time around my lil guy was actually ok with chilling out in the wet undies! He'd even splash and play in his puddles and thought it was hilarious. Lol. I'd laugh about it since it was odd to me that he'd do that but the OCD in me was NOT happy. I had to focus on the fact that I needed to stop cleaning up pee and poop and that kept me sane. ;)

Eventually, all 3 boys figured out the routine and got with the program. I refused to put pull ups or diapers on them unless they were going to bed or if we were going on the road. Once we were home, it was strictly undies!

It took LOTS and LOTS of patience and realizing that I will be cleaning up pee puddles but as long as he was moving in the right direction which was FAR AWAY from diapers, I was ok with cleaning up the messes. I'd say munchkin # 3 deserves a shopping trip to the mall to get some cute new undies!! :)

Inspirational Mondays - "Perserverance

Perseverance...

Aloha Ohana!

I wanted to touch on perseverance for this week's inspirational post since it seems to be the word of the year for my family and I.

We've been through a lot of ups and downs and even though the downs have hit us pretty hard, we've experienced some great highs that I really need to start praising and thanking God for.

For the past few weeks I've had to juggle the "back to school" season without hubby and it was pretty hard. We usually do the school shopping together so it was a little rough going at it alone. It wasn't just exhausting because I had to juggle all 3 boys on my own, it just felt odd making every clothing and supply list decision on my own. Nevertheless, I persevered and made it through...

First day of school was rough not having hubby there but we were pleasantly surprised that he got the chance to skype the boys before school so that made our day.

I've recently been trying to potty train munchkin # 3 and it's finally paid off. He's been potty trained with number 2 for some time now but number 1 has been tricky. lol Well, I'm happy to say that he's now fully trained.

The list of things I've been getting checked off my to do list or getting through despite hubby's absence goes on and on. My point in mentioning all these things is to say that despite all the obstacles and hardships I've endured on my own or we've endured as a family recently, we've persevered and it's only be the grace of God that we've been able to do so.

I keep looking at everything as a challenge and the prize is to grow and be stronger. God knows that I'm strong enough to handle these situations. What the devil may mean for harm, I'm choosing to use for growth.

I give all the glory to God that I'm able to smile, laugh and be happy for even the simplest of things.

Catching Up...

Gosh it feels like I haven't been on in ages. This deployment seems to be going by really fast and I'm loving it. It's weird because I want to savor each and every day we still have left here in Hawaii but I'd much rather enjoy them with the hubs. :)

I can't wait until he gets back. This time around I feel spoiled with the amount of times we get to communicate but I'm truly grateful for the way things are. It definitely helps the boys feel better and cope well with having their dad gone.

This summer has definitely been filled with lots of challenges and a bunch of good times. What a year it's been for our family. I must give thanks to God for being right next to me no matter what. I'm so happy with my progress so far as an "Uncommon Christian" and I look forward to the rest of my journey in life. I'm excited for what's to come with my entire family.

Life's too short...

Feels like I haven't been writing in ages. My family's been going through some rough times lately. We recently had to deal with the unexpected death of my father in law. I still can't believe he's gone even as I'm typing this. Even though we weren't extremely close it's still a huge blow. He wasn't sick or anything and we still don't know what happened especially since he was still quite young.

Since hubby is deployed it was quite an adventure getting him to leave for the funeral. For me, traveling with 3 young boys was a scary thought but it needed to be done to get to see and support hubby and the rest of the family.

Although it was a tremendously sad time for the family we decided to make sure we stayed in touch more and really love and support each other. We miss him dearly and wish that we could tell and show him how much he was loved by us all. I'm sure he knew but it doesn't hurt to say it as often as you can.

We learned that we can't take life for granted because it can be over in the blink of an eye. I have to admit that due to his death, my focus has changed. I've been leaning and grabbing a hold of God more and more these days. I want to make sure I'm living the life God wants me to live, not the one I think I should live. I've been asking him to guide my steps now more than ever. I don't ever want to waste a minute on this earth and I want to make sure my children or entire family won't either.

Here's to starting fresh or adding boost of energy and focus...

Inspirational Mondays - "My House"

Well, well, well, this past weekend was a pretty interesting one. With all this talk about the rapture I really wonder where Pastor Camping is right now? Has anyone seen him? lol I know the bible mentioning that no one knows the time nor the hour of the Lord's return and it also mentions that there will be false prophets so we must be ware. Well, I'd say this weekend was evident of that. The bible also tells us to be forgiving so I'll forgive Pastor Camping for deceiving us even though I wasn't quite sold on his "prediction." ;)

Instead of focusing on confusion or deception for this week's post, I decided to stay positive and focus on home. For one, home is where the heart is and my heart is definitely filled with love so of course I expect my home to be filled with love as well.

This week's message is:

"Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23:6

Inspirational Mondays - "Refresh"

Aloha Ohana!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. This past week was such an amazing week for me as a mom and 1 I will never forget. Munchkin # 1 went on a field trip to the Big Island which is about a 35 min flight from here. He was gone for THREE days!! I thought I was gonna die. lol. I prayed like I've never prayed before. God laid some serious peace over me because I really thought I would panic more than I did. lol Don't get me wrong, I trained up my kids well but not being able to read to him, say prayers with him, talk to him or give him hugs n kisses really sucked. ;) His last day there he told me he was ready to come home and that touched my heart. He was sweet enough to buy us all souvenirs from his trip when he didn't have to nor did we ask for anything. I was so happy to have him home and I'm really glad he got this experience. It's one I'm sure he'll never forget and the stories he told us about his trip were priceless.

I was then privileged to attend munchkin # 2's 1st piano recital. :) This is a HUGE deal because anyone who knows him knows he is the shyest little boy ever and has actually cried at the thought of being in front of an audience or being left alone in a room with other people unless we were around him. He fell in love with the idea of playing piano last year and started in December. The growth that he's shown in his self confidence and being more open is tremendous. I was so tickled to see him play. I'll share more pics/videos about them in upcoming posts so stay tuned for that...

It was a little bittersweet because hubby didn't get to experience any of these lovely moments firsthand but we made sure to document it well for him.

I'm just over the moon and so grateful that God has blessed me with these boys and I pray that he'll continue to use me to plant/nourish the seeds of faith, fear and love for him in them.

Well, enough about my weekend. lol. I read this message and thought it was perfect to share because I now make it a point that as soon as I wake up every morning, before I even jump out of bed, I talk to God. Even if it's to say "I love you God" or "Thank you for this day God." I know it's short but at least I feel like I can start my day better by recognizing the one who allowed me to wake up each day.

Inspirational Mondays - "My Portion"

Look at my little angels!! Hubby snapped this pic of them while waiting for me to get finished shopping. These are their "are you done yet, mommy?" looks. lol. Even though they were all royally miserable for having to wait for me they're still super duper cute. In my defense, I didn't take that long in the fitting room. ;)

I hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day! I had a great Mother's Day with my boys even though hubby was missing. My boys made sure I knew how much they loved me with tons of artwork, hugs and kisses that meant the world to me.

As a mom of little ones I hardly have time to brush my teeth or take a bath without interruption but while reflecting on my duty as a mom, I wouldn't have it any other way. Although there are times of frustration, the good far outweighs the bad when it comes to motherhood. My children bring me so much joy on a daily basis that I'm truly thankful that God trusted me enough with these precious lives to care for and raise them up. I just hope I do a good job and not allow the trials of the world to affect me or my children.

After going through a few passages I was inspired to share this message with you all...

Inspirational Mondays - "Refuge"

Aloha Ohana!!

What a momentous and historical occasion we've experienced. I can't begin to put into words the sense of accomplishment and relief the news of Osama's death brings to our nation. While it's a bit strange to be celebrating the death of a human being. I can't help but to feel joy over the fact that this signifies justice for what our nation went through on 9/11 and hopefully the death of an era. An era of terror and pure evil. I'm happy that our country is brave enough to stand it's ground in seeking out and getting rid of people whose sole purpose is to harm and destroy others.

While it's a great time to celebrate, I've decided to pray now more than ever for the thousands of troops, including my hubby, who are currently deployed to the middle east. It is written that as we draw closer and closer to God and his purpose in this world, the enemy will raise up and continue to attack. I know the war on terror is not over but the bible tells us to never fear, because Jesus has already paid the price for our trials and tribulations.

So through the blood of Christ Jesus I pray that this war will come to a swift end and our troops will come home as soon as possible. I know there's still work to be done to stabilize that area but I pray that the world will come together and get the task done within a short period of time.

I was moved to share these scriptures for today's post:

Inspirational Mondays - "Roots"

Aloha and Happy Monday Ohana!

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter weekend. My weekend was pretty eventful but very nice. Hubby and I made sure our boys knew the true meaning of the Holiday because it's way too important to drown it out with Easter eggs and bunny. Don't get me wrong, we still took part in Easter egg hunts but we wanted to make sure they knew that Easter wasn't about eggs or bunnies or candy.

This particular Holiday was extra special because it's when Christ died for each and every one of us whether we deserved it or not. It's such an awe inspiring concept to sit and meditate on. Little old me... Jesus died for me. Jesus bared ALL that he did on the cross and died a slow and painful death just for me. I can't help but to be grateful to him and live the life he wants me to live.

Every year my church puts on a huge Easter production about the miracles Jesus performed as well as him being crucified on the cross. It's a poignant story and one I will never get tired of hearing or seeing. This year's play was especially touching for me since I've been digging deeper into the word of God. It's like I was seeing and hearing everything through a newer and better perspective. I like this new me. :)

I found this scripture and thought it fit this week's post perfectly:

"So walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude." - Colossians 2:6-7 NASB

Inspirational Mondays - "Prayer"

Aloha Ohana! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. My weekend was super busy but in a good way. It was spent hanging out with family and friends. We celebrated birthdays with great friends and just bonded more as a family which is always a great thing.

I wanted to write this post about prayer because it's something that seems so simple but in actuality I was a closet prayer. What I mean by that is that I have no problems praying out loud at home around my immediate family. I pray day and night at home or even in the car. However, whenever we have an event, host a game night or whenever there were people other than my family around, I was usually the one passing the "prayer torch" to my hubby and while he doesn't mind and is pretty good at it, I now know that I need to step my game up.

Prayer is God's way of communicating with us and God wants us to communicate with him at all times. He also wants us to be able to pray for others. Sometimes it's going to mean praying out loud in the middle of a crowded room. As a christian it's a part of our christian duty to pray for others but speaking our prayers out loud really gives the devil a run for his money. It gives us more power and resilience and let's the devil know that we mean business when we speak to our God. It puts him in his place. This fear I had for praying out loud was perfect for satan to weasel his way into my head and start planting seeds of doubt. Well, after realizing this, I'm now more determined than ever to pluck out those seeds and get rid of them.

I know God's not placing pressure on me but I know that in order for me to be as Creflo Dollar said "a cut above christian," I need to improve my prayer life. It's funny because God knows exactly what or who we need to help us take the next step to becoming more like him. I'm a part of a life group aka bible study where our teacher inspires and pushes us to either open or close in prayer. At first, I would clam up and get so nervous that my voice would crack in the middle of prayer. I was so worried about what to say, how to say, how much to say that I completely missed the point of what prayer's all about. God doesn't care about the nitty gritty of prayers, he just wants us to talk to him.

Looking back at it, I completely complicated something that's so simple and pure. I'm much better at praying now and although I'm not a very outspoken or extroverted person, I'm now more open to praying out loud. I just speak from the heart and ask the holy spirit to guide me. I can actually laugh at myself now for how silly I was before because I know that God has my back at all times so there really wasn't anything to worry about.

Inspirational Mondays - "Encounter with God"

Aloha and Happy Monday Ohana!

Before I get into the usual inspirational post I wanted to share what I did this past weekend. I had the tremendous opportunity to get closer to God.

I was raised in the church and was taught the fear of God from a very young age. Luckily for me I never lost my way from the way of the Lord. I did however, "scale the line." The line of jumping full force into my walk with God and jumping into the ways of the world. I went to church, read my bible, prayed and did good deeds. What I didn't do until now was to totally devote myself to God. I didn't always wake up early enough to give God his glory and start the day with him. I didn't always devote my night to him before going to bed. I didn't always keep the best set of friends. I tried my best to do these things but didn't think anything of it if I missed the chance to do them. I know I'm not perfect and I know God understands when we fall short. What matters is recognizing the wrongs and doing the necessary steps it takes to make them right, then continue making right decisions for the future.

I thought I was being a good Christian but God wants more from us. He wants all of us. He wants us to think of him in all we do and in all we say. He wants us to wake up and give him praises, he wants us to invite him to walk with us for our entire day, each and every day.

My church here in Hawaii provides the congregation with various classes designed to help us grow closer, understand and truly love God. So I dedicated my entire weekend to taking classes and really getting my spiritual fix. I now feel so refreshed and free. Free from all transgressions and ready for a new day and a new way of living.

I learned a WHOLE lot in class this past weekend but a cool saying I was taught was that God wants us to be "H.O.T" for him. "H.O.T" meaning "Honest," "Open," & "Transparent." We can even take it further and be "H.O.T.A" for him. "H.O.T.A." meaning "Honest," "Open," "Transparent," & "Accountable." Isn't that great? Yes, you can steal it. ;) lol

I'm now in a place where I can't wait to wake up and talk to God. I can't wait to ask him to hang out with me for the whole day. I can't wait to praise him in the good and the bad. I feel myself getting more mature in God and I'm so happy about it. :)

Inspirational Mondays - "The Little Things"

As a mom I'm faced with tons of opportunities to not only teach my children life's lessons but to learn from them myself. These days it seems as though I'm always learning new things, especially when dealing with boys. They get into anything and everything and I now realize that they think and do completely different things that girls their age do.

They're pretty good boys but of course there are times when I have an "open mouth" moment when what they do is so puzzling to me that I have nothing to say or do other than to just "open my mouth" in awe. lol

Lately they've had some issues appreciating the simple things even if it's a toy. To them, if its fun and they break it then oh well. I had to tell them that God only blesses you with bigger things if you prove to him that you can appreciate and take care of the small things. It's not about being materialistic, its about taking care of what you have and not just to get better things, to just appreciate what God's blessed us with.

It's only when we appreciate the simple and small things that we can be blessed with bigger and better things of God. Again, not speaking from a materialistic point of view but rather a spiritual view where God sees that we are capable of handling his work and the purpose he has for our lives.

I read this message and thought it matched perfectly with the lessons I've been teaching my boys...

"Dear Lord, today let us be victorious over the little things in life. Help us to show love to those around us, to willingly share what we have, to speak kindly to those in need of a kind word. Even if what we have to watch over seems small and unimportant, remind is to do our job with mercy, justice, and love. Let us handle small things with big hearts. Amen."

"Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things." - Matthew 25:21 NKJV

Inspirational Mondays - "Plans"

With all that's been going on in the world recently it's only fitting that today's Inspirational post be about the plans God has in store for us. While the recent events doesn't make much sense to us, we can't let go of the healing and comforting hands of God.

What happened in Japan is unbelievably sad and so incomprehensible. I know that people are left asking "Why God?, Why me? Why us? This is so unfair" While we don't have an exact answer and I know righteous people of God were greatly affected by this past week's tragedy, I know that God did not and never will forsake them. He wants us to grab on to him as tightly as possible and trust that he has a plan for us. Even when things seem too overwhelming and disastrous, trust him...

This week's Inspirational quote says it best:

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Lord we ask that your strength, protection and healing hands be placed on the people of Japan. We pray that you comfort them as they try their best to rebuild their lives. We ask that you reach out to them and help them to view this situation as a way to start new. Help them to not let go of their faith in you and for them to truly lean on you while they maneuver through this dark time. We pray that you'll continue to bestow blessings on them and help nations across the world to rise up and lend a helping hand. We pray that this situation will help unite us and bring us closer to you and to each other. In Jesus's name, Amen.

I'm asking that you all continue to pray for the people of Japan.

Tsunami # 2

How could something so beautiful be so deadly and dangerous?

It was just a year ago when I received a call at 5 am about a tsunami set to hit Hawaii around 11 am. I was so out of it and shocked that I had to take a minute to try to grasp the fact that a huge wave or waves would be hitting land and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I remember it like it was yesterday but instead of writing about it again, you can check out that post here!

This time around I think it hit me differently because the footage of Japan's disaster was so raw and quick and devastating. It's such a sad thing to see happen and especially when it's something you can't prevent. When Hawaii went into a state of emergency and received our very own tsunami warning things got really intense. You'd think I was more at ease this time around but no such luck. First of all we now live within walking distance of the ocean and Japan is much closer to Hawaii than Chile was and of course after seeing the footage of Japan's destruction, I couldn't help but to be worried.

Luckily we had the option to stay with our friends who lived on much higher ground. We packed up and camped out for the night and was so relieved when the tsunami didn't hit us. I must say that Hawaii was really on top of things. They made sure that they kept us in the loop while staying as calm as possible. Our politicians and rescue teams were with us every step of the way and for that I'm truly grateful.

This year is turning out to be quite an emotional roller coaster. While I've been enjoying some really great highs, I've had to really dig myself out of some really low lows. I'm praying that the rest of the year will be less intense as it's been so far. If it stays on the same course as it's been going, I pray for strength, courage and endurance to make it through. Inspirational Mondays - "Truth"

Aloha Ohana!! I trust everyone had a lovely weekend. My weekend went by super fast. It's the last weekend my sister will be here so we made the best of it. It's been an exciting and fun couple of weeks and I'll definitely miss having her around.

The past few weeks have been quite interesting in my family. We ended up having 2 deaths in our family in one day. 1 was totally unexpected while the other was expected but still quite sad. Although both members were Christians and we know that they are in a better place and resting peacefully in God's Kingdom, it still hurts to know that we'll no longer be able to see or speak with those family members.

On the other hand my best friend got married this past weekend and I wasn't able to make it because my hubby had to go to Jamaica for one of the funerals. I didn't get to make it to any of the funerals since I had the kids to look after and it would've been a bit much for us to travel so far with 3 kids.

It's been a roller coaster of emotions to say the least. I share all this info because for this week's post I was moved to give thanks to the Lord for allowing me the opportunity to spend time with my sister, be happy and send good vibes to my best friend and truly be grateful for the time I had with the loved ones we lost.

This past week has been pretty interesting for me. Have you every felt like you're going along in life with your to do list and goals and just when you think you're breaking ground and getting ahead, something happens to through off your plans? Well that's the way I've been feeling lately. I know the feeling won't last and I know it's just the devil's way of tripping me up but it's still a battle I must face but boy am I glad I'm not facing it alone.

Of course the best way to get through this feeling is to continue to pray and stay grounded knowing that while we're working on the home front God's working behind doors on our behalf.

We all know that it's important for us to turn to God not just for the things that we need or lack but for the simple things such as getting us through our day. The best way to get closer to God is to always talk to him and ask him to be with you at all times. Of course, he says he'll never forsake us but it's extremely important to "ask" him to be with you in "all" you do. He wants us to want him. He wants to know that we think highly enough of him that we can't go anywhere or do anything without turning to him.

Do you ever feel like you're stuck? Like you think you're on the right path but because you don't get the response you're looking for, you tend to hesitate?

What do you guys do when it's been "one of those days" or "weeks" or "months" ?

I recently received a message via email that I was so grateful for because last week was "one of those weeks" where everything that could go wrong was going wrong and the devil was working overtime to trip me up.

I had to really focus and give thanks to God during the midst of it all because I know that as a servant of God, the closer you get to him, the harder the devil will try to get you down. So this past week, I guess I was super duper close to God because the devil was a piece of work. Nevertheless, I had to smile about it because I felt safe, secure and loved by God because he never let me fall and everything worked out in the end.

Inspirational Mondays - "Sacrifice"

Happy Birthday to a man who depicted such strength, courage, humility and most of all sacrifice. It is with great pride and honor that I get to type the name Martin Luther King Jr. A man with such a strong vision and who dared to believe in fairness and respect for all no matter the color of our skin.

Since this is such a special day, I was moved to find an inspirational message that touched on sacrifice and realizing the human spirit. Martin Luther King Jr was a man who reached out to the masses. He taught us how to stand up for your rights and realize that this world is way bigger than just ourselves. We each have a purpose in this world and to try to hinder anyone from meeting their potential isn't just wrong, it's an injustice to God's word.

Inspirational Mondays - "Protection"

How was everyone's first week of 2011?! I'd say mine was pretty interesting. It has been a roller coaster of emotions. Mostly highs but there has been some lows just from listening to news stories.

With the recent tragedy in Arizona I was moved to search for a scripture that focused on protection. It was such a senseless and horrible tragedy and a terrible way to start off the year. I thought this scripture was fitting...

"The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." - Psalm 18:2

I've been praying for each of the families affected by the shootings. I'd love for you all to continue to pray for the families as well.

Stay safe and make sure you tell the people you love that you love them every chance you get. Cherish every second you have with them. I pray that you all have a blessed and prosperous week.

Here it is, just like I promised. My second time meeting the President. The coolest part of this video is him giving munchkin # 3 his new nickname, "Curly top." Isn't it cool?

I can't wait for him to grow up and find out who gave him his nickname. It'll be an all around great story to share with all 3 boys. :)

I'm sure munchkin #1 will get a kick out of the fact that he said "Ok, can we go home now?" about the President of the United States of America. Kids say the darndest things I tell ya.

Inspirational Mondays - "Be Courteous"

Well it's a new year and I am very excited about the possibilities and opportunities that I'll be facing in 2011!

It's a time to reinvent myself and push forward towards my goals. 2010 ended on a good note for my family and I. We got to shake hands with President Obama again and we got to see Michelle as well (missed her last year). I'll post a video of the meet n greet later on this week.

Hubby was also promoted to 1stSgt. Sweet!! I can't say I was surprised since he was the acting 1stSgt of his unit anyway but to make it official and 2 years ahead of the time he should be getting it (by Marine Corps standards) made it that much sweeter.

I can't help but to continue on this high. :) With that said, I'm aiming high for 2011 and instead of talking about it, I'm just gonna do it and hope you all stick it out with me on my journey.

I'd like to thank you guys for stopping by and reading my posts, it means a lot to me.

Inspirational Mondays - "Thank You"

How was everyone's Christmas? I trust everyone had a lovely time and enjoyed all the festivities that came along with it. I hope no one forget that Jesus is the reason for the season. I ended up sounding like a broken record for the past few weeks from having to remind my children of this. I didn't mind doing it but I totally understand all the excitement they had for getting gifts. After all, they're at that age where it's all about what they can get so I had to let them enjoy themselves and the gifts. As long as I made sure they were educated on the reason behind this Holiday, I was ok. Hey, God saw all the effort I made so if it didn't stick at least I wouldn't be blamed, lol. ;)

I had a grand ole time and ate until I felt I was gonna pop. lol I'm looking forward to doing it again to ring in the new year. ;)

Inspirational Mondays - "Tis the Season"

It's Christmas time, my very favorite time of the year. I love the lights, joyful time, songs, and of course the time off to spend with family. This year I won't be able to be with my extended family but I'm very blessed and grateful that I have my immediate and military family here in Hawaii.

While we're enjoying this time of the year let's not forget the reason for this season, Jesus. My kids are now at the age where they understand the real reason for the season. It can get a little hectic trying to get Christmas shopping and dinner prepped but we must not forget whose birthday it is. If it weren't for our heavenly father blessing us with his precious son Jesus we wouldn't be able to enjoy all the festivities this time brings. It's because of his love why we get to forget about the trials of life and just enjoy quality time with each other.

With that said, I'm compelled to share this passage:

Inspirational Mondays - "Validation"

A few days ago I was hit with the realization that people tend to care way too much about what other people think of them rather than what God thinks about them. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but it can become a bad thing if our main focus is to please others. There's nothing wrong with wanting to put forth our best selves or try to make improvements in life but you can enter dangerous territory if every single move that you make relies on what someone else may think or even do.

It's just not natural and it's definitely not fair. Not fair to you to put SO much pressure on yourself and most importantly it's not fair to God. He wants you to turn to him, please him, get dressed up for him, make a "special" meal for him, care about what "HE" thinks. Why? Because he is the one who truly matters.

In the end people may come in and out of your lives but the one constant will ALWAYS be God. So be sure to treat him as such because after all, he'll be there for you whether you cook a crappy meal or not or whether you fit into those skinny jeans or not.

Inspirational Mondays - "Discipline"

I decided to use last week's post on "Compassion" to tie in with this week's message of "Discipline."

We all have different ways of disciplining ourselves and others. Sometimes it benefits just one person, other times it benefits an entire community. Nevertheless, discipline is necessary not just to restore order but to set a precedent of what's right and wrong and how we are to live our lives on a daily basis.

Discipline can be a taboo subject especially when we start to discuss the degrees of discipline and how to implement it. Well, instead of focusing on specific degrees, we should first accept the fact that a life without consequences or discipline will most definitely lead to a life with chaos and torment. Discipline shouldn't be viewed as a negative thing but rather an opportunity to learn a lesson and grow as an individual. We only have one life to live so why not spend it trying to make ourselves better?

Inspirational Mondays - "Compassion"

Amidst all the recent issues on bullying I was compelled to write this week's "Inspirational Mondays" post on compassion and being kind to one another.

We all know that being teased or picked on is a part of growing up. It's kind of a rite of passage and let's face it, it's one that we all wished we didn't have to go through. It's not fun, it's cruel and even though the majority of the time it may only involve words, words can carry weight to kids who are trying to find themselves and who are trying to fit in or learn how to deal with hormones or other puberty issues.

I'm not sure why it's gotten so much more aggressive these days, nonetheless it must be stopped. In my opinion it has to start at home. We must take the time and effort to teach our children about having compassion for others. We can't afford to assume that "they get it." Let's not wait until a problem arises, take a moment to have a simple discussion with them about this issue. Too many children are taking their own lives and are being tormented for being what others may consider "different."

Remind your children that there is only ONE judge and that's God so NO one has the right to place judgment on others, especially not another child. Tell them that God loves us ALL no matter our skin color, sex, class, etc. We are ALL God's children and should be treated with love, compassion and respect.

You may not feel like this is "your" problem but you never know when "your" child will be affected by this. So instead of waiting until it becomes a problem, have a little chat with em. Even if they never have to deal with being bullied, they may be able to reach out to a child who is being bullied or even help stop a bully. You just never know...

God wants us to know:

Inspirational Mondays - "Have No Fear"

Have you ever felt ashamed or fearful of something you've done or the person you've become?

My pastor preached a very poignant message recently about the fact that we tend to let fear or shame take such control over our lives that we block out all the positives and blessings God may have in store for us.

If that's you then I want you to just "LET GO AND LET GOD!"

God says that no matter what you've done and who you think you are, he will forgive, restore, protect and bless you. He wants you to repent and bring your troubles to him for him to fix. It's what he loves to do. He wants us to be able to live our lives filled with joy and not with fear or shame.

Letting go allows God to work in tremendous ways. Don't stay stuck in your fear/shame. Pray about it, let it go. Ask God for forgiveness then forgive yourself and truly leave whatever it is that had such a strong hold on your life behind.

Inspirational Mondays - "Acceptance"

Each of these lists contains words that describe me. Although I love and accept list 1, I sometimes find myself working hard or obsessing over list 2. I end up frustrating or overwhelming myself with trying to change the things on list 2 which goes completely against God's intention for my life.

My point in making these lists was to point out that we all have good and bad lists but for some reason we tend to focus more on the list with the negative aspects rather than accepting and focusing on the list with our positive attributes.

Why is that? Why is it so easy for us to put energy and work into changing things that make us feel bad about ourselves rather than embracing the good? I'm not saying that we should'nt always strive to better individuals but there should always be a balance and we should always be mindful of the things we decide to put our minds to. Be careful that you aren't trying to change the very thing that God intended for you to use as a way to give back, reach out to others or even the very thing that will teach us the lesson of acceptance within ourselves.

I'm not fond of my thick thighs but it shouldn't stop me from going to the beach in a bikini. In fact I should be grateful and embrace them because it enhances my curves, which I love.

We don't live in a perfect world and although God wants us to always do good and be better people, he also wants us to accept the things he's given us and not go over board with trying to change ourselves.

Inspirational Mondays - "Kindness"

Have you ever felt like you're stuck on a hamster wheel?

There are times when I wake up feeling like I'm stuck on a hamster wheel. Sometimes I feel like I'm not truly showing up in my own life. My to do list or goal list just seems to be getting longer and longer and the time seems to be flying by without me getting a chance to catch up. I focus so much on my wants, my needs, my family, my thoughts and so on...

I've gotten so caught up with what's happening in my world that I sometimes lose track or block out others and that's just not fair. It's also totally against God's design for us. If he wanted us to just focus on ourselves then he wouldn't have created us with the capability to meet, greet, talk, hug, kiss, love, and cuddle.

So recently I've decided that every time I get this feeling I'll make it a point to help others. Even if it's just to open a door, say hi or bye, smile to a stranger, donate to a certain cause, I just want to help someone. I also decided that I'll do this strictly out of the kindness of my heart and not to expect any sort of acknowledgment or praise.

Often times people seem to think that if they help someone then they should be rewarded. The simple fact of helping isn't enough for some reason. Why is that? I'm not placing judgement at all because I've fallen victim to this way of thinking in the past.

When I think about it no matter what my current circumstances may be, somewhere in the world, someone else may be having a bad day, week, month or even year. So if I can be helpful in any way without expecting anything in return then I know that I've done what God wants me to do which is to be kind to others. After all, don't we all want others to be kind to us?

Munchkin # 3 turns ONE!!!

1 year ago this perfect little creature blessed us with his presence. For the past 12 months it's been an absolute joy to be his mom. He's the sweetest, funniest, and cutest little boy ever (just like his brothers were and still are ;) ).

It's funny because with each of my boys I tried my best to enjoy their younger years because they go by so fast. With this lil man time is REALLY flying by. He brings me so much joy on a daily basis and there's never a day that goes by when I don't have belly hurting laughs from the silly things he does. :-)

SO HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY to my lil munchkin!!! Mama loves you and here's to many many more years of pure joy, laughter and lots of love.

Being a mom means having to make sacrifices for the betterment of your child. Sometimes you're placed in situations that you'd prefer not to be in, nevertheless you learn to roll with the punches and the statement "what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger" comes into play A LOT.

One of my regular "mommy tasks" is to go grocery shopping. It's second nature to me, I don't mind it but I often have to do it with all 3 boys in tow. Often times a 1 hr trip can take me up to 2 hrs because I stop to discipline the 2 older boys along the way or I have to entertain my lil man.

Well recently I decided that I wanted to tackle the grocery shopping all by myself so I left the boys with hubby and went shopping. It was great, I actually got to get every item that was on my list. Sometimes when I go with all 3 boys, lil man # 3 expires towards the end of the trip so I end up leaving without some of the items and going back the next day.

During my solo trip to the grocery store I started to remember an incident I had when I just moved to Temecula CA from Tampa Fl. Hubby, munchkin# 1 and I moved to CA in 2003 when I was pregnant with baby # 2. I was so overwhelmed and super scared because I was away from close family and friends most of whom I was used to seeing on a daily basis. I had to really adjust to this new way of living. Not only that, I had to deal with a 3 hr time difference that proved to be a challenge for quite some time.

About 6 weeks after giving birth to munchkin # 2 hubby had to go on a 2 week training mission. I thought it was no big deal since it was such a short period of time. I'm a military wife so I was used to him being away for long periods of time. This time around it would be more challenging because I would be home alone with both boys but I knew I could do it and if it got overwhelming I'd just pray my way through it.

Well one day I took a trip to Target to pick up some diapers and a few other household items. Upon checking out 2 young ladies were staring at me and made a sweet statement about both my boys being so adorable. I smiled and said "thank you." One of them then said "How old is your baby?" I replied "He's 6 weeks old." She goes"Oh that's so young. I replied "Yeah!"

It was now my turn to check out and both girls went to the next register but while walking away I over heard one of the girls saying "Omg, I don't understand how people take their babies out the house at such a young age. I'd be so scared to leave the house." They both started laughing and since they were on their way out the store and I was sleep deprived (lol) I didn't bother to address their comments.

After thinking about it for a second I got really angry and irritated that they would place judgment on me especially without knowing my situation. Did they honestly think my preference would've been to bring my 6 weeks old baby out in public? Did they think that I was that shallow or not good of a mom to not think of the safety of my baby? How dare they not assume that I just had NO OTHER CHOICE!!! Which was the case. I then got angrier at the fact that I was SO far away from family and friends who would've jumped at the chance to baby sit my boys while I run errands.

I tend to over think the safety of my kids at times so the comments made by these girls reallypissed me off that day. I almost wished that I made the effort to say something to them but then I thought to myself "who cares? why am I getting so pissed?"

I guess the overall point of this post is that people have NO idea what's going on behind closed doors. No one knows exactly what someone else may be going through. Don't assume that your life experiences is the exact same way for everyone. Don't assume that the options available to you will be available to everyone else. My most important point is that people should NEVER PLACE JUDGEMENT on others. I'm sure these girls didn't mean any harm but it did put me in a bad mood for a little that day.

These days it would'nt have bugged me at all since I'm in a completely different place but I still feel like people should learn to keep their mouths shut or have some compassion for others situations.

Happy Monday everyone!! Here's a little inspiration to start off your week...

Have you ever experienced something and over-reacted only to realize that if you had stopped, taken a deep breath, prayed and ask for guidance and God's will to be done then all would've worked out without any harm being done?

I've had quite a few of those days. I usually end up being pretty hard on myself for falling victim to satan's attempt to sneak in and cause drama. I'm the type of person who hates drama, if I feel a situation coming on, I'll try to avoid it at all cost. There are times when you just have to go through the drama aka "fire" in order to become a stronger individual. Sometimes there are lessons to be learned with certain situations so it's pointless and practically impossible to avoid these lessons. No matter what, it's messy, I hate it and it annoys me. I'd much rather go through life without dealing with too much drama but of course this isn't possible and most of the time after succeeding and getting through a specific battle, I actually give praises to God for sticking with me and never letting me fall victim to satan's "try" on my life. I thank him for his stronghold on my life because he's so merciful and gracious and loves me no matter what.

I'm saying all this because I know that somewhere, someone out there is going through a situation that may seem too overwhelming or you may have done or reacted to something that leaves you feeling like there is just no end in site to the misery. I want you to know that IT'S OK!!! Don't give up, don't give in, don't be so hard on yourself. God will heal you, God will lead you and God will protect you no matter what. All you have to do is turn to him, talk to him and ask him for forgiveness. Ask him to lead you in the right direction and ask that his will be done for your life. It's NEVER EVER too late to turn your life around.

No matter what you've said or done and no matter what others have said or done to you, God will NEVER EVER leave or forsake you.

Here's a great scripture that spoke to my heart, I hope it speaks to yours as well...

"Do not be anxious about anything,

but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,

present your requests to God.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,

will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Is it ok to recycle your kids' Halloween costumes?

Take a good look at the pic above because at least one of these costumes will be recycled for this year's Halloween. lol.

Yes I'm VERY serious. Is it ok to recycle Halloween costumes for kids? Would they even care?

To my defense "Mario" aka munchkin # 1 is OBSESSED with his costume and insists on wearing it again this year so I'm more than happy to oblige. Unfortunately "the magician's" costume is too small for him.

Here's the thing, my boys are SUPER tall for their age so I end up having to buy costumes that are WAY too big for them and end up pinning the sides, arms & legs to fit them just right for the night. So this year a couple of the costumes are now the perfect fit for them so it's only right that they wear em again right? He he. Is that bad? Am I a bad mommy?

I mean seriously, it's not gonna hurt them. Let's be honest, their main focus is the candy. On top of that they're only gonna wear the costume for a few hrs so it won't be so bad.

Here's some background knowledge, I spent my entire childhood in Jamaica and we didn't believe in or celebrate Halloween. I was 12 yrs old when I moved to the states and got to celebrate Halloween and I LOVED it but mainly for the candy. My mom didn't buy my sisters and I costumes to go trick or treating, mainly because we were too darn old for costumes. So we made our own costumes from stuff around the house. We were gang members for 2 [maybe 3 yrs ;)]. lol. Yes I do realize that I went trick or treating at the age of 14 errr 15, hey don't judge me. lol Since those costumes obviously worked for us I figure that my kids having actual costumes whether old or new is a step up from my costume.

I talked it over with both older boys and they're perfectly fine with recycling old costumes so I'm SUPER happy about that.

Now I just have to find a cute costume for munchkin # 3 and it's time to party!!! :-)

It's Inspirational Mondays!! Time to get a boost of inspiration to get you through the week.

I recently had a mini breakdown when I realized that I wasn't getting to my goals as quickly as I'd like to. I keep putting in the work and I have a set amount of time when I'd like to see some sort of progress but when that doesn't happen I second guess myself and wonder if that particular path is the right one for me. What really gets to me is when others around me tend to add their 2 cents about my goals which makes me question myself even more.

Does that ever happen to you guys? If so, how do you push through it?

I know that everything in life worth having never comes easily but I also don't want to spend time on something that just won't work. Usually when I have these "what if?" moments, I take a step back, think about my long term goals, pray to God for wisdom, revelation and direction and "listen" for God's guidance about where I need to be.

It's not always easy because a lot of times the answer is to keep going but everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Well besides more prayer, I also read this quote to keep on going.

This is a message I'd highly recommend you print and post on your mirrors or place on your desks or somewhere in plain sight so you'll get to refer back to it as quickly as possible.

Happy Monday Ohana!! Let's start off this week on the right foot by getting a little inspiration.

I searched out this week's message particularly because it spoke directly to me. We all know that life's not perfect but sometimes when we forget to look at the glass as being half full. At times life can seem really hard and unbearable.

Before you decide to give up, read this week's message courtesy of Joel Osteen and you'll see that although things may be rough at the moment, there will ALWAYS be something you can be happy about or give thanks for.

Time for a little inspiration to get you through your week. This week's inspirational message is one that I definitely need to put into practice more often.

I can be a bit of a worrier sometimes especially when I have goals set in place and the timeline to accomplish these goals may not always add up. I end up stressing out when I should really just ask God to bless and guide me then let it go. I recently came across this passage that I decided I'd highlight and refer back to every time I get overwhelmed with "my" life's plans.

"Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well... Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself" -Matthew 6:33-34

I hope this passage brings you all some peace of mind.

Inspirational Mondays - "Future Plans"

This week's inspirational post came about quite interestingly. Yesterday I was cleaning up the toy area of our garage and saw a small card. I picked it up, flipped it over and saw a hand written note that read:

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11

It took me by surprise because the note wasn't written by anyone in my household. I have no idea where it came from or who wrote it. Nevertheless I read it and took a minute to soak it up because it was just the message I needed at the time.

A few hours later I was skimming through inspirational messages and notes I've read to write this post and I came across the very same scripture. Whoa!!Talk about a "duh duh duh" or "Aha" moment. lol This was a message I definitely needed to share and although I "got it" I'm sure God revealing this to me twice in one evening can only mean that someone else out there "needs" this message as well.

I've been so busy trying to make plans for my future lately that I keep forgetting to stop and ask then listen to God about "his" plans for my life. I'm sure we're all guilty of this and it's a habit that's extremely hard to break.

So my challenge to you all this week is that in all you do, please take a moment to ask God to reveal his plans for your life then ask him to grant you the guidance and patience to accept whatever he has in store for you. It may not be what you want but God knows that it'll be exactly what you need.

Wordful Wednesday - The movie - "Battleship"

I'm SUPER excited about this week's Wordful Wednesday since I get to gush over some cool celebs.

I recently had the privilege to be casted for the movie "Battleship" and boy did I have a blast. It was by far the best set I've ever been on. What I really liked was how down to earth and sweet the cast was.

I'm a HUUUUGGGEEE fan of True Blood so I was super stoked to just get the opportunity to breath the same air as Alexander Skarsgard (Eric). He he...

When I got on set and he actually said hi and bye to me and was so gracious when I stalked eerrrr asked him for a picture, I fell in love with him even more. He is even better looking in person if you can imagine that.

See... *sigh* ;)

Check me out trying to look cute despite having to tackle the BLAZING HOT sun. Man it was like I was standing in an oven that day. Whew!

This is me with the ever so lovely and gracious Actor/ Director Peter Berg. His vision for this movie is insane and will pay off in May 2012.

I saved this one for last because I LOOOOVVVEEE me some Liam Neeson. He was such a sweetheart and actually held conversations with us "common folk." lol. This made me love him even more. His voice was so smooth and serene that he could've been reading a map and I would've been mezmorized.

I had such a good time on this set and I'm happy I got some pics for some great memories.

Inspirational Mondays - "Turbulence"

Who's ready for some inspiration to get you through the week? Well whether you wanna hear (errr read ) it or not, here it comes. ;) C'mon get excited people...

This week's message comes courtesy of Pastor Dave Martin who blessed us with his presence here in Hawaii yesterday. He talked about a lot of things but one thing that really stuck out to me was him talking about weathering the storms of life.

He used the example of flying in an airplane. When the plane gets to a point where there's turbulence do you get off the plane and say "Hey, I'm not good with turbulence so I'm just gonna get off right here." No, of course not.

Seems funny to use that analogy but when you think about it, a lot of times when the turbulence of life happens in our lives instead of buckling up and going through the turbulence we give up and "get off the plane."

My challenge to you all is that you'll face each and every problem you may have in your life as if you're stuck in an airplane with no other option but to go through the turbulence. It may hurt, it may feel uncomfortable, it may make you feel sick to your stomach, heck it may cause you to have a panic attack but whatever "it" may be, just remember that you have the option to buckle up and hang on until the turbulence passes and rest assured that it will definitely pass just as long as you use God as your seat belt.

Often times we go through turbulence in order for us to gain the strength we'll need to accept and handle the blessings that God has in store for us. It may also be God's way of purging us from certain things, places or even people so that we may get to the next level in life. So don't forget to buckle up and wait out that turbulence, God will most definitely be there for you.

Time to start off your week with a little inspiration. I was recently watching one of Joyce Meyer's messages about patience and accepting what God has in store for us. She mentioned that a lot of times people ask for patience without realizing that there has to be some sort of trial or tribulation in their lives in order for them to gain this virtue. Yes it sucks and things can get overwhelming but the trick is to hang on for dear life to your faith and know that God will in fact get you through whatever battle you're facing.

See it as a way to dig deep down and show how strong you can be. I know this is easier said than done and Lord knows I've been faced with more than I thought I could bare but I know that my faith and love in God was the only thing that got me through.

I came across this quote and thought it was perfect to go along with this post:

“I used to hurt so badly that I'd ask God why, what have I done to deserve any of this? I feel now He was preparing me for this, for the future. That's the way I see it.” - Eden Phillpotts

I hope this message inspires you to hang on and never give up because whatever it is you're going through, the reward will be that much sweeter once you give it all over to God and trust that he will in fact see you through the battle.

Wordful Wednesdays - "Jamaican Rum Cake"

It's almost time for some Jamaican Rum Cake...

I REALLY miss being able to go to a store and buy Jamaican products. One thing I've been craving lately is Jamaican Rum Cake. This picture really doesn't do it much justice. It may not look super delicious or it may look a little plain but this cake will make you wanna slap your mama. ;)

First of all not everyone can actually make this cake and the effort and love that goes into this recipe really shows as soon as you take the first bite. People start fights over this cake, that's how serious it is, lol.

It's mostly consumed around Christmas time. The fruits, rum and wine that's used in this recipe is soaked in a huge jar for ONE WHOLE year.

It's one of those cakes that'll melt in your mouth and leave you a little tipsy at the same time (especially if you eat it from my mom ;)) because Jamaicans LOVE their rum and wine and will be VERY generous with the pouring of said rum and wine while making this cake.

Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. It's just that good.

Anywhoo, I know it's pretty random but I'm a little excited because it's almost that time a year for me to get some. My mom will be mailing some to us here in Hawaii and I cant wait... :)

Information Overload

For the past few months I've been taking on a lot of different projects. I even decided to jump into the "writing a book" realm and boy am I tired.

To recap - I decided that I'd write a "mommyhood" book about my experiences as a mom thus far. I want to make sure that the book depicts the real me and I want to keep it as honest, blunt, quirky and silly as possible. I knew it would be hard work but I don't think I was fully prepared for how much time it would take, (doh to me- I'm slow sometimes ;) ) especially having to juggle 3 kids, 1 dog, a hubby in the military and other ongoing projects.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining and it's been pretty exciting writing a book. It's just soooo much info. I'm very grateful that there's so much info out there to get started on writing a book but the problem I'm now having is "information overload." There are so many different sites that I end up spending a lot of time on different sites and making notes to make sure that I don't miss anything that I now have to seriously do some strict time management to buckle down and get going at a faster pace.

On the bright side I'm LOVING the process on a whole. I'm enjoying getting to dig back into my memory bank about being a mom. It's pretty cool to see the way the words are turning out. I want to make sure that I write a book that my entire family will be proud of but one that my boys will definitely feel some sense of pride from especially since they're my inspirations for it.

I hope I can do them proud. K, back to work for me. Just wanted to do some venting.

If anyone out there in blog world has any suggestions or tips on writing a book please, please, please share. Leave me a comment, it will be VERY much appreciated. I sure could use a little direction. :)

I'll be sure to keep you guys posted on the journey and of course when it's all done.

Wordful Wednesdays - "Eyebrows Please?"

I was recently going through my old photos and came across this picture of my lil munchkin # 1. Can you see what I see? The missing eyebrow on the left. LOL!!!

How did he manage to make a clean cut you ask? During summer break of 07 while his dad and I were at work lil man wanted to be nosy and grab a shaver out of the garbage because he was curious and wanted to do what "mommy" does. Umm... I was relieved that he didn't hurt or cut himself but of course I had to sit him down and explain 3 things:

1. NEVER dig in the garbage cause it's gross. Eww
2. Razors, shavers and all sharp objects are off limits. Unless you wanna help me cook dinner, he he, just kidding ;)
3. Boys usually don't follow what mommy does, they follow what daddy does and daddy doesn't shave his eyebrows.

I wasn't too hard on him with point # 3 because at the time hubby was a Drill Instructor so he was basically a passerby in the house for almost 2 yrs. I think his curiosity just got the best of him which is fine. Guess that's what growing up is all about. I'm just glad we can look back at this situation and laugh about it.

Time for a little inspiration to get you through your week.

I was reading "A Small Child's Book of Prayers" to munchkin # 3 the other day. I came across a really great prayer that seems really simple but can actually put a lot into perspective for our daily lives.

It goes:

"Please give me what I ask, Dear Lord,
If you'd be glad about it.
But if you think it's not for me,
Please help me do without it." - Anonymous

This simple little prayer kind of stumped me because so many times I hope and pray for certain things or a certain path in life only to find out that that specific path is not my own. I've had to learn to trust God COMPLETELY and stop trying to be a passenger seat driver. Of course it's easier said than done but at least simple prayers like these are out there as a friendly reminder that what we think we need, deserve or want may not be what's best for us.

I hope this message touches you all just as much as it did me.

Funny Kiddy Story - "Lion Dream"

It's been a while since I shared a "Funny Kiddy Story" and I'm quite ashamed of myself for not doing so since my kids truly are hilarious, no really they are. Check out some of my past "Funny Kiddy Story" posts and you'll see...

This "Funny Kiddy Story" comes courtesy of munchkin # 2. See him in the pic acting a fool but still looking oh so cute and adorable?

A few days ago Munchkin # 1 wakes us up to share his brother's dream with us because he said it was "really, really,really funny." So he goes on to tell us that munchkin # 2 woke him up in the middle of the night to share his dream with him. Here's how to convo went down:

# 2: Hey M!!! Wake up! Hey!!! Wake up! I wanna tell u my dream!
#1: Huh? What?
#2: I wanna tell you about my dream. I was dreaming that I woke up and looked out the window and was looking at the stars and some of them were in the shape of a Lion so I said to myself "wow I wonder if the Lion can talk" and the Lion said "shut up!!" Hahahaha...
#1: hahahaha. Wow! You're weird. Now go back to sleep and stop waking me up.

I hope you're dying of laughter just as much as I am. If not, too bad cause I think it's hella funny, lol. Then again they are my kids and they are pretty funny to me. ;)

Wordful Wednesdays - "I'm a big kid now"

Time for some MAJOR cuteness factor...

Check out my lil munchkin # 3! He's officially walking!! YAY!!! We decided to give him some scooter time in our driveway last week. He loved it!

I'm SOOO proud of him and I really didn't expect him to be walking before 9 months. He took his first few steps at 7 months then started letting go around 8 months and now we can hardly keep up with him at 9 months.

I'm loving it and he's loving being able to move around and try to keep up with his older brothers.

It's still a little bittersweet for me because he's growing up super fast. Luckily for me he's still very much a mama's boy and I intend to try to keep it that way for as long as possible, he he.

Hey!! I still have munchkin # 2 as a mama's boy so it's possible, munchkin # 1 is all about his video games so he's out of his mama's boy stage... boo... Oh well, at least I still get lots of hugs, kisses and sweet conversations from him so I guess I can still claim "mama's boy" status from him. ;)

Too Much Information

We all know that kids say the darndest things. My kids definitely say things that stump me from time to time but it's usually in the funniest and sweetest ways.

My 2 older boys (ages 9 and 6) are at an age where they like their independence. They want to be able to go to the park on their own without mommy watching from a distance and they've earned it. They've proven to me that I can trust them to come back home when I tell them to or if I decide to pop up at the location they tell me they'll be at, I'll actually see them there.

I'm also the type of mom who wants to know the kids and the parents to the kids who my children will be playing with. It helps me decipher whether they have the same ideals as we do as a family. Usually if the vibe's not right, I tend to back away from that family. I have no problem telling a parent that the reason I limit my children's time with their child is because their child doesn't follow the rules of my house.

I don't think I'm a super strict mom but I'm strict enough where I WILL NOT stand for explaining myself or dealing with any B.S. from ANY kid who can't pay my bills, cook my food, wash my clothes, clean my house or run me a bathe. If I set rules in place you better believe that I expect you to follow them because kids are expensive on my wallet and my brain so you better do as I say or else...

Does that seem mean? I really don't want my kids to go through life avoiding conflict or negative situation since they can learn life lessons from certain situations. However, if I can avoid unnecessary drama or bad influences, I have no problem doing so to protect my children.

Recently my 6 year old came home and asked "Mommy, what is herpes?" I was SO shocked because I didn't expect it. Then as the question sunk in I started getting pissed off because I'm wondering what child would even know about the word herpes and why was it being discussed around my NINE & SIX yr old. My 9 yr old jumps in to say "This girl at the park said that a boy down the street has herpes." Ummm, WTH?!?! Are you kidding me?

So I ask them how old this girl was and if she was directly talking to them or if they overheard a conversation. They mentioned that she was in the 9th grade and that she was talking to a bunch of kids.

They also asked if herpes was something they could catch and how do you get it. I was SOOO irritated and dumb founded that here my poor lil babies are being exposed to such explicit info.

I'm not sure if my explanation made sense to them but I told them that herpes is a disease and that kids won't get affected by it so they shouldn't worry about it. I also told them to stay away from whomever mentioned that because she's not in their age group so she shouldn't be talking about that with them.

I hate having to explain things to my children that I don't feel they're ready to even learn about. I want to be able to be open and honest with my children and properly inform them of different subjects but not at the cost of them hearing it from an uninformed source who may not have the correct info on the subject.

Gosh, whatever happened to the days when all you needed to worry about was which toy belonged to who and who hit who as a kiddy conflict? Now I have to worry about TMI being shared with my kids about sexually transmitted diseases. I don't understand what's going on with some kids these days. Lord help me...

That's right, her parents, hubby and I decided to marry them off. Cause we can do that. They were born a week and a half a part and was destined for cuteness and love for all eternity. lol

Ok maybe that's a stretch but we pretty much have them set...

See she already grasped the concept and is getting him prepped for some "baby love."

Electric Slide at School

I mentioned last week that the boys are back in school here in Hawaii.

(Look at my cutie pie Munchkin # 1 ;) )

I was pretty excited for this school year to start because I ended up switching the boys from public school to a charter school and I'm SO glad I did.

(Here goes my lil sugar dumpling Munchkin # 2 ;) )

I'm REALLY picky with who watches my kids or where they go to school as I'm sure every mom is. I like to make sure that if my children are spending a significant amount of time away from me that it's at a place or with someone who ALWAYS has their best interests at heart and will only influence them in a positive way.

So their father and I decided that we'd send them to private school when it came time for them to start school. We were lucky enough to find great private schools in previous states. However, Hawaii's private schools costs an arm and a leg so we had to enroll them in public school. Nothing wrong with public school, in fact there are some really great ones around.

Last year we focused on convenience rather than the level or type of education and ended up getting frustrated with our overall experience of the public school they attended.

This school year, we made sure to go back to our old views and focus on the best education experience possible. This is exactly what we found in their new school. The atmosphere, teachers and parents are all pretty impressive thus far. Of course this is just the second week of school but I'm really happy with what I've seen so far.

Funny story - The first day of school I decided to walk the boys to class so I can see what their morning routine will be. Apparently this school has a morning assembly where the principal comes out and talks to the children then they do the "Pledge of Allegiance" then they have a school pledge that's spoken in the Hawaiian language which sounds really cool but of course I'm clueless as to what's being said. lol After that they dismiss the kids to class but what really made me wanna laugh out loud was the fact that all of a sudden they started blasting the "electric slide" over the loud speakers to get the kids pumped up and ready for school.

After I heard that I was 100 % convinced that I made the right decision in sending my kids there. Of course them winning the "2009 - 2010 Distinguished school" had A LOT to do with it as well. ;)

Oh I couldn't video tape the kiddies so I found a really cute video of the "Pillsbury Doughboy" doing the electric slide on youtube, check it out! It's super cute.

I would ask how's everyone doing with their back to school transition but I know that Hawaii's the only state that's currently back in school so never mind. :)

A fellow Marine wife who's an amazing photographer recently put out the word that she wanted to shoot a baby with the new huggies jeans diapers. So I graciously volunteered my lil munchkin # 3 for the job.

I had a little bit of a problem finding the right size diapers. Walmart was the only store on Oahu who carried it at the time and they only had sizes bigger than my lil man. So I had to get creative...

I ended up putting on a regular size diaper and placing the jeans diapers over the normal one to avoid any "blow outs," he he... Here are some of the shots from that shoot...

The way we start our week sets a tone for the rest of our week so why not start it off with a little inspiration?

This week's inspirational message comes courtesy of the lovely Victoria Osteen. Each week I try to mix it up a bit and find different messages to share with my blog Ohana but for some reason I can't get enough of the Osteen's messages because they always seem to take the word of God and break it down in a way I can really understand (cause I can be slow sometimes, lol).

World Breastfeeding Week!

It's "World Breastfeeding Week!!" Yay!!!

I gotta admit I had no idea that it was "World Breastfeeding Week" until I watched "The View" earlier this week. he he...

I know, I know, shame on me especially since whenever I'm breastfeeding I can practically feed an entire village from the amount of milk I get. On top of that all 3 of my boys drank breast milk like it was crack. None of them would drink it out of a bottle and none of them wanted to drink regular formula so they went straight from breast milk to whole milk and solid foods.

I had to put hot sauce on my boobs to ween munchkin # 2 off my breast after he turned 2. That's a whole other story that you could read about HERE. It's actually a really funny story.

Anyway, I only decided to write a post about this after I heard about Gisele's hot mess of a statement she made about women who don't breastfeed. Apparently she wants to make it mandatory for women to breastfeed. She thinks that women who don't breastfeed their babies are selfish and not thinking about the well being of their children.

Really Gisele? Really? That was a "hello dumb dumb" statement. It's obvious that I'm ALL for breastfeeding but trying to force a woman to do something with her own body that doesn't work for her is NOT gonna happen.

First of all not all women who want to breast feed get the option because they may not produce enough milk to feed the child. On top of that there are tons of other medical conditions that may prevent a woman from breast feeding.

It's really sweet and thoughtful of her to be thinking of the child especially since breastfeeding is best for babies. However, generalizing or making such a statement just makes you look ignorant and inconsiderate.

Good for you that you get to breastfeed your baby but next time, keep that statement to yourself cause it won't fly well with us ladies. K?

You still got a banging body though. ;)

"Tomato Turtle" Book Review & Giveaway

I was recently contacted by the author if this cute little children's book called "Tomato Turtle." What I didn't realize until I did a bit more research was the fact that the author of this book was a 14 year old young man named Thomas Strock. I was so impressed by his tenacity, determination and passion for reading and writing. Of course the fact that it was a children's book earned him extra points in my book.

I couldn't turn down his offer to read and review his book and I'm so glad that I did. This book is perfect for children of all ages. It especially resonated with my 6 year old because he's at a stage in his life where he loves doing his own thing but also loves keeping up with his older brother.

Tomato Turtle is a quick read about a turtle who loves his life as a turtle but is very curious to see what it's like to play like a regular boy or girl so he decides that he'll start playing and behaving like regular children only to find that he misses doing regular turtle things. So instead of choosing which things he liked better, he decides to blend the two worlds which makes him very happy.

The message Thomas provides his readers is that it's ok to be different and it's ok to want to fit in with the "norm" but it's very important and sometimes it works out better when we accept ourselves just the way we are and not try to fit in with others.

Such a poignant and sweet message told in such a cute and quirky way.

Kudos to Thomas for finding his passion in life and following through with it. He's such an inspiration. Funny story - I told my children how old he was and they both said they wanted to draw and write their own books without me asking them if they wanted to. Two days later they totally forgot that they said that but I thought it was cute that they were inclined to follow in Thomas's footsteps.

I had to share this message because I have a pretty hard time letting go of toxic relationships. For some reason I always think that as long as I'm praying, loving and supporting people in my life who are a bit toxic, they'll eventually change their bad attitude. Reading this made me realize that you can't and won't always please everyone and that no matter what you do, it won't ever be enough...

I have to say that this post was really therapeutic for me because I sometimes think that I've lost myself to this military lifestyle but it took Jacqueline asking me to write a guest post about how I've managed to keep my goals and myself in tact despite being a military wife and a mother of 3 young boys for me to step outside of myself and my situation and realize that I have accomplished quite a lot and have fought hard to be "me."

It's a pretty touching post. I'm not just saying that because I wrote it. ;) I'm saying that because I wish someone would've been as brutally honest as this post was when I decided to marry my Marine. It wouldn't have changed my mind about getting married but I would've appreciated the insight.

Back to School we go...

School starts back next week Monday!! Wooo hooo!!! (Can you sense my sarcasm? ;) I'm not too fond of the fact that school starts back so soon here in Hawaii. Sure I can be happy about the fact that I'll be more sane during the days since 2 out of 3 munchkins will be away at school but honestly I don't mind having the little buggers around. ;) They do funny, silly stuff that makes me laugh whether they're getting into trouble or not.

It seems like just yesterday when I was faced with having to take my first born to school for the first time. I was super nervous, excited for lil man but was bummed out because at the time hubby was away in Iraq. On top of that Munchkin # 1 was going to school in NY where I was staying with family while hubby was away. I didn't really feel at home because "my" home was back in Cali. I tried my best to hide my sadness in hopes that lil man wouldn’t feel or mimic my feelings.

He was super excited to get school supplies, a back pack, lunch box and a uniform. What I didn't realize at the time was that for him, going to school meant that mommy wasn't going to be around for a few hours. I didn't talk to him in detail about that because I assumed he "got it." In hindsight I wish I had explained that to him and let him know that it was ok and actually a good thing to be able to meet other kids and learn fun, new stuff.

So off we went to his school. We got him settled in his class and just as I was about to leave he grabs on for dear life to my leg with his little brother in my hand and wouldn't let go. I tried my best to explain to him that I'd be back in a little while but he got so overwhelmed and so nervous that he threw up all over himself. I was mortified and felt like the worst mom in the world. I had to fight back tears because I felt so bad. I was an emotional wreck.

I kept thinking that I should've prepped him better, I should've explained it better, I should've...

Luckily the principal helped us out and explained that it's normal for kids to do that. I still felt horrible about it and I definitely hated having to leave him there so I hung around for a bit and made sure I was on time to pick him up. When I picked him up he was so excited to see me but was all talks about what he got to do at school.

It took him about a week to really grasp the concept that I had to leave him there every day, he kept thinking that I should sit in the back and watch him. I didn't want him to feel like I was abandoning him so I stayed as long as I could each day. Eventually he was ok and he excelled and loved school.

Munchkin # 2 was a whole different story. I thought it would’ve been easier since he was going to be in the same school with his older brother so I assumed he'd adjust better but noooo. Munchkin # 2 is a HUGE mama's boy. His first day of school was a little rough. I prepped him ahead of time and his older brother even tried to prep him for it but it went in one ear and out the other. When the time came for me to leave him he cried bloody murder. I felt bad about it but I knew he'd be ok especially since his older brother was with him.

When I picked them up I asked the teacher how he was and she said it took him a while to calm down but he was fine. Well… he cried bloody murder for about a month straight and sporadically throughout the school year. We were truly blessed with an amazing teacher who was extremely patient and was so sweet to him that she managed to deal with his crying and actually got to teach every day.

I can't help but to think of how # 3 will react with his first day. I know I'll still be an emotional wreck no matter what but so far he's a HUGE mama's boy so I'm prepping for him to cry bloody murder like his brother, lol. We'll see...

Accepting my role as a Military wife

So I've got a confession to make... I haven't always been the best military spouse I could be. Sure I support my husband and I'm very proud of him being a Marine, I'm actually very proud and honored to be a Marine wife. My husband is an outstanding Marine. He's gotten up in rank pretty quickly and puts his best foot forward at all times.

However, I haven't always been the wife who would volunteer in his unit or go to various meetings or events for families around the military community. I guess I figured that as long as I attend the annual ball, show up at a handful of events and promotions then that'll be enough.

I just never put out the extra effort to get involved as a military wife because I somehow equate the military with separation and my anger tends to get the best of me. Anger from having to live as a "single mom" while my hubby goes on deployments, training missions, etc. Anger that I'm so far away fro family and friends. Anger that dates are never set in stone and most of all anger that I have a limited amount of control of where I can live, what I can do and when I can do it.

It's taken me over a decade to get to this realization. Yes, it's sad and I guess when you think about it, it's also a little selfish of me to not fully accept and adapt to military living. However, I'm glad that I'm finally trying to reach out and accept this lifestyle.

In my defense I've tried a couple of times to "get involved" at a few bases and didn't exactly get great experiences but with each base comes new people and new opportunities to start fresh and get to form great bonds.

Luckily my time here in Hawaii has been filled with great people and great opportunities to "get involved."

So for the past few months I've been trying my best to volunteer and get involved with my hubby's unit in different ways and it has been pretty interesting, fun and really cool.

I've gotten to meet some really great and really smart women who all have very inspiring backgrounds. I even completed a L.I.N.K.S. (Lifestyle, Insight, Networking, Knowledge and Skills) course and got to find out TONS of info about the Marine Corps that I had no idea about.

By the way, I highly recommend that all Marine Corps wives take this course. It teaches us about the basics of being in the military and also provides us with great info about our community, what resources are available to us and how to thrive as a military wife. It teaches you how to read an LES and provides us with a cheat sheet of over 10,000 acronyms the military uses and I learned about the basics and history of the Marine Corps. Check out the link for L.I.N.K.S. here and sign up. I promise you won't regret it.

I'm sure there are similar programs set up for other branches of the military but I'm not sure of the name. You can always get the info from your hubby's Command Officer or Family Readiness Team.

Anywhoo, I feel a little more relieved about military living and I can see that my husband is happy that I've finally taken some interest in getting involved. I really hope the experience I've gotten on base here in Hawaii will be similar at future bases but even if it's not, I know I've found lifelong friends here in Hawaii so I'll be good either way.

Living your dreams

K peeps! This week has been quite an adventure. Besides getting to hang out with great friends who are visiting us from Cali, I've had to do some "summer" cleaning with my to do list.

I had a really sweet and touching conversation with my mom earlier this week. She called me and told me that she's going back to college to be a nurse. My mom is one of those people who is constantly on survival mode and loves the finer things in life. She also had to give up her dreams to be a mom and raise 4 children. She confessed to me that whenever she goes to the doctor for her appts she finds herself getting jealous of the nurses because she wants to do what they're doing.

I thought it was so profound to hear her say that because that's exactly how I feel about writing, acting and modeling.

What's odd is that I never told my mom that these were my passions until after I graduated college because I thought she wouldn't be proud of me or thought I wasn't grounded or living in reality.

I've always been a great student and got good grades and tons of awards and honors in school but after high school I found myself being drawn to the world of entertainment and no matter how hard I tried to follow my parents' goals for me (pediatrician or lawyer) I found myself going right back to acting.

So when my mom figured out that I wanted to be an actress but that I was constantly faced with obstacles, she knew exactly how I felt. She saw how frustrated I was when I'd get a role then the film got canceled or if I had to miss an audition because I didn't have childcare.

When she told me that she was going back to school I could've said "Why? What's the point?" But I didn't. I told her congrats and that I'm happy for her because for the first time in a long time she was truly happy and I could feel her excitement through the phone. I'm so excited for her that she's refusing to give up on her dreams. Her pushing forward lighted a new fire in me to keep pushing forward to accomplish my own dreams.

With that said, within the next few weeks, I'll be pretty busy making sure that I put 110% into accomplishing my dreams. I'll be able to reveal more of what I'll be up a little later so stay tuned but for now I'll just say that I'm super excited and I'm very happy about the opportunities.

Don't worry, I'll still be posting on a regular basis but I do hope that you'll understand if I miss a day or two. He he ;)

Stacy was my ride or die chick when we lived in Cali. Being in the military can make it hard to find true, life long friends and I'm so happy I found one in Stacy. She's supah cool, supah fun, supah sexaaay ;), and supah loyal which makes it that much easier to love her.

This was us at an 80's party. Ohhh good times. I miss our Cali days but I'm SOOO happy to get to chill with her again even if its for a short time.

Funny Kiddy Story - "Pet Fly"

Happy Friday everyone!

Man it's been a while since I've written a "Funny Kiddy Story" post. Seems weird since the whole purpose of me blogging was to document my kids' funny moments.

Glad I'm getting back to basics.

Anywhoo, this "Funny Kiddy Story" comes courtesy of Munchkin # 2

Munchkin # 2 is a pretty emotional, sweet, kindhearted, thoughtful, respectful, shy and soft spoken little angel. Yes he surely does get into trouble as a typical 6 year old often does but for the most part, he's pretty helpful and an all around good kid.

So last night he decided that he was gonna capture a fly and make it a pet. Why he thought of doing this? I dunno...

First of all, the flies we have here in Hawaii are some of the toughest hardcore, heavy duty type flies I've ever come across. I can't just smack em, I have to REALLY pound em to actually kill them. Just went you think they're dead, then trick ya and pop right back up. It's SOO annoying to have to deal with because as soon as I open my door to go outside, at least 3 or 4 of these hardcore suckas fly inside. I was told that since we live so close to the beach, this is the reason for the influx in flies. Doesn't make much sense to me but whatever.

Anywhoo, back to the kiddy story. So munchkin # 2 decides to capture a fly in a bucket. Not only that, he prepped said bucket with air holes, pieces of cookies and drops of water for his new pet. LOL I'm sure he probably named the little pest too but unfortunately for him, big bro busted his plans to keep the fly as a pet so we told him to either swat it or release it.

Of course his sweet, gentle self released it outside but not without shedding a few tears.

Yes, I know this is supposed to be a funny story, hey it's hilarious to me especially since we've told him time and time again that flies aren't pet material.

I just thought it was hilarious that he made the effort to provide food and water for the little bugger and that he got so emotional about letting it go. Hey I'm not a mean mama I just don't want my kid playing with a critter that throws up every time it lands somewhere or one that likes poo piles, yuck!!

All's well that ends well, I'm sure he'll get over this little disappointment!

The Good Wife

I've recently had some opportunities to tap into my God given talents and it's been pretty exciting, tiring, but exciting nonetheless.

I'm pretty picky with how I spend my time. I realize that life is short and there's no point wasting it doing things that you aren't passionate about. So I decided that I'd try my hardest to follow my passions.

I've always been a pretty optimistic person. Some of my close family and friends would say I'm a bit naive since I tend to look for the best in people. In the past I've had to learn the hard way that people don't always have the best intentions. I also assume that if you put your mind to something and work hard at it that you will always succeed. So I've been working my butt off on various projects. So much so that I've missed out on some family time with my kids but I always rationalized that with the fact that I'm teaching them that they must always work hard to succeed in life.

Being able to put out top quality work required me to lose A LOT of sleep but I didn't mind, I figured that I can sleep when I'm dead so as long as I have a cup of coffee to wake up to, I should be good. Well, this idea doesn't always work when you have 3 children who are currently out of school and one who's currently teething. It also doesn't work when you have a hubby who's pretty high up in rank in the military which means A LOT more responsibility on his part.

Basically something's gotta give. So what happens? I revert back to my normal role of "The Good Wife." In this role, my dreams, goals, passions are put on the back burner while I stand by my man's side.

Don't get me wrong, this is a role I cherish and love. However, I often find myself wondering where I would've been in life had I followed my dreams instead of my heart. Does that sound mean? I surely don't want it to come out that way and I'm certainly very grateful for what I have.

It's just that I've recently had to give up yet another dream of mine. It totally sucks and brings me back to a feeling I know all too well and I keep wishing I wouldn't have to keep feeling.

I'm tormented by the need to feel independent and want to do things other than being a wife and mom. I keep thinking that providing stability, structure, a clean home, great healthy meals, clean clothes, etc for my family is just not enough. I keep feeling like I'm not doing enough stuff or that I'm not enough.

I guess I just have a "Pioneer Woman" kind of mentality except that I just don't have the support system I'd like to continue this quest. Sure hubby tries to help out but him giving his job 100% often requires me to not give my all to my own projects.

I'm pretty bummed about having to give up on some of my recent projects. I hate feeling like I'm giving up or that I have to quit something. It's a nasty, gut wrenching feeling that I never want to experience but one that creeps up ever so often.

I just have to keep telling myself that my time and energy spent on my family is very much appreciated. I love my boys and they surely make me happy and fulfilled. I have no idea how to get rid of the feeling of not being enough for them and it's something I definitely need to work on.

Until then, I'll try my best to work on being enough for myself and my family...

Baby Dedication

I'm a bit late in posting/mentioning this but this pic was taken about a week ago when we had a "Baby Dedication" ceremony for our precious lil munchkin # 3.

(I'm exhausted from the day's festivities, can you tell from the pic? he he)

The ceremony was beautiful and very touching.

We were lucky enough to get a team of Pastors and worship leaders to perform a private ceremony for us. We invited some great friends and had a grand ole time.

Munchkin # 3 slept through the entire dedication part and woke up as soon as the actual ceremony was over. Go figure... lol

We ate well, prayed well, socialized well and praised God VERY well for yet another great gift.

I feel so blessed and honored that he chose me to be the mom to these 3 particular lil blessings. I know I'm always boasting about how good my kids are but it's true they really are great kids. Sure they do the typical kiddy things and get into trouble or lose their minds every now and then but overall they're pretty sweet and stable kids.

Gotta love em...

This Week's Thank You Very Much" is a little different for me.

I'd like to give a BIG Thank you to ALL the things that make me feel like doing what I'm doing in the picture above!

There's never enough time in the day for me to complete my to do list. My poor kiddies are suffering for it.

It's been tough trying to fit doing fun things for the summer, keeping up with all my writing assignments, keeping up with paying bills, cleaning, doing laundry, running errands, taking care of repairs for the house and cars, volunteering, working with hubby's unit and all the other stuff that seems to pop up at the most inopportune time ALL into ONE day.

So THANK YOU VERY MUCH to all of that. I guess I should thank myself because this time last year I was complaining about being bored out of my mind and now I can't seem to find time to be bored at all.

Gosh, what ever happened to balance? That would've been nice. I don't mind having stuff to do but geesh!

Ok, back to work for me...

Father's Day Shout Out!

(Yes that's me with hair in the green hat ;) )

Since it's almost Father's Day I figured it was fitting to give my dad a shout out for always being there for me. He's the kind of dad who would never kick us out of the house because we're "of that age." He's funny and silly and loves spending quality time with us.

If he could have it his way, he'd have all his children live with him for the rest of his life or at least he'd buy a huge piece of land and build multiple houses all over the property for us all to be able to live within walking distance of each other and that means a lot to me. So shout out to my dad!!!

Of course I couldn't forget about my hubby especially since he had a little to do with the 3 most handsome little men running around my house, lol.

He's one of the hardest working men I know and I'm so lucky that he's always there for our boys.

So shout out to my hubs!!!

My Tiny Blessing...

My lil munchkin's gonna be Christened tomorrow. Seems like it was just yesterday when he was born. He's only 7 months old now but gosh the time flew by REALLY fast.

Now he's grabbing everything and making noises, trying to stand up, crawling all over the place and making us enjoy the simple things in life.

He always brightens up the room no matter what. I love how he always seems to put a smile on everyone's face no matter how bad a day we all may have. He's such a happy and sweet baby and we're truly blessed to have him in our lives.

I've been blessed with 3 amazing boys and what better way to celebrate than to dedicate our newest little munchkin to God and promise God that I'll never take his trust in me as a mother for granted.

You see none of my children were planned. he he ;) I didn't exactly protect myself to the fullest to ensure I didn't have children and I always knew that I wanted to be a mother so when I got pregnant, it was a shock but a welcomed one.

Munchkin # 3 REALLY through us off but we're SOO glad he's here. I know God has GREAT plans for my family and I want to make sure I honor that.

So tomorrow's gonna be a big day in our house. I'm not only excited for the ceremony but I'm excited that I get to see family members who will be coming in from CA and FL for this special occasion.

I'll be sure to post pics of the ceremony next week.

Instead of having to go through chains of commands or searching through google, just click here (or our fabulous button created my the lovely Mrs.Muffins) and get all the info you'll need about how to survive and thrive as a military spouse.

No we're not "Government officiated" military advice peeps or anything but we figure we got enough experience to help other wives along in this military lifestyle.

P.S. To all those who were concerned about my lil munchkin #2's sleeping/snoring issue. Good news is he's not narcoleptic and he doesn't have sleep apnea. The bad news is his tonsils are over sized so I gotta watch him sleep for the next month to make sure he's not gasping for air which will mean, snip snip for him. :/ I'm hoping he won't have to go through that.

Friday Confessionals..."Greedy"

I confess that:

*I LOVE food and not just the "I enjoy different tastes" type of love, I mean the "I see food, I MUST eat it" type of love for food. I can't resist it. I sometimes eat just cause... I have a field day at buffet restaurants. I can go on and on but the point is... I'm SOO greedy that I sometimes bring snacks in my room at night with the intention to eat it but then end up falling asleep. Here's the best part... In the midst of sleeping I actually remember that I didn't eat the snack so I get up and eat it then brush my teeth and go right back to bed. There has to be a name for this type of behavior. It's just not normal I tell ya. Please don't judge me...

*Earlier this week I wrote a post about charging my kids for throwing wads of soap at their bathroom ceiling, read about it here. This is now my new favorite punishment/discipline method. You see both boys are competitive and want to one up each other on the total amount of money they have. Ever so often they pull out their wallets and count their money in front of each other then gloat about it. So now instead of yelling or threatening or throwing objects, etc (kidding btw, he he ;) )... I just take some of their money or threaten to take money and BINGO... Perfect kids. LOVE it!!
